How To Match Your Belt & Shoes | Matching Your Leathers

The rules for matching belt and leather shoes are quite simple.

Match the Leather colors
This rule could not be simpler. You're lucky! In general, the more contrast there is between the belt strap and the shoes (or even the briefcase or the messenger bag), the less elegant it will look.
If you have a dark brown belt strap, the most logical choice for shoes would be dark brown. If your shoes have a different ox blood color, then an ox blood belt strap is the way to go.
However, don't worry too much about a slight difference in the tones of the two elements. It's not a big deal if, for example, your dress shoes are darker at the front than at the back. As long as they are very similar in color, you will have done the job.

Match the metals
Essentially the same concept as the previous one. You want the belt buckle to be very similar in color to metal on your shoes if they have metal. Specifically, we are talking about the buckles on monk strap shoes.
Gold combines with gold, silver with silver, etc. You may even want to go a step further by combining these buckles with metal in your other jewelry, particularly your watch or whatever ring you are wearing.
The previous two "rules" are not terribly strict. There is no shame in folding or breaking them when you know how and you have an elegant intention.
